While I’m currently under a self-imposed yarn-buying ban, I still have moments of weakness, usually in the form of patterns and their accompanying photos, and usually with blankets. With the right blanket pattern photo, it’s like fireworks going off in my head, and then the next thing I know, I’m searching for whatever yarn on sale I think might make a good substitute…

Starflower the Temptress

With this one, it sort of went another way. I’d already fallen victim to a pretty pattern and used some of my Christmas gift money to buy a set to take part in Purl Soho’s next knit-along, which is a blanket, but then I saw this pattern, and my googly eyes shifted.

In my head, I immediately reallocated this KAL yarn for this blanket.

One down, so many to go…

I got one done in less than a day, so they’re fairly easy for me, but right now my current mental roadblock is that I haven’t yet wound the other color hanks, and I wanted to alternate as I went, for fun. Maybe this weekend!

This one was fascinating in that I learned a new cast-on method that involved a crochet hook, called the Emily Ocker cast-on. Pretty easy once I watched a video.

I still haven’t decided if I’ll seam as I go or make a stack and then do it all at once. Both ways sound satisfying, so I guess I’ll see how I feel once I’ve completed another one.
